Butt Snaffle Bit
I just bought some snaffle bits, can I use these for my horse?

My horse was ridden last summer and that was it. When I got her she was still a bit green but had a good amount of groundwork done to her. Within the 2nd week of her 30 day training she was able to be ridden in the arena, and is starting to learn how to respond to the bit. The bit goes into her mouth real easy but she tends to still chew it. I haven't asked my trainer what she used on her yet but I wanted to know what yall think. I got these from a tack sale at $5 each. Also, I have a 5 year old Appy, she's 15.2. I just hope these can be used on her. Also, the eggbut looking one might have a little issue because when i twist it it feels like it gets stuck sometimes, so i had to kind of adjust it to let it twist freely, and it worked. but is that a bad snaffle if it sticks?
As mentioned, measure her mouth to ensure a proper fit. Also, if the bit has any rust on it, you shouldn't use it. Any rusty spots will chafe delicate skin, and if on the part inside her mouth could scratch inside and create discomfort. You should also sterlize it, using boiling water and a scrub. You don't know where that used bit has been. If she's chewing it alot, it might be too big, or too loose, allowing too much movement so she plays with it.
When you pull the reins on a snaffle, the movement pulls the outside rings back, this pushes the two bars up into an inverted 'v' and puts pressure on the roof of her mouth. So if it sticks in this position, it is going to be uncomfortable for her, and be of no help to her training. It has to release freely once the reins are relaxed.
