Jumping Boots
What kind of boots/leg wraps should I use for cross country jumping?
There are so many different kinds I cant figure out what is best, I want support and protection both.
Before I go into my answer just remember if you dont put the boots on correctly you could do more damage then good. Sometimes your best bet is not to use anything at all.
Do not use wraps for cross country they can and will come off and that is worse then leaving your horse with no wraps.
For boots use something that fits snug around the leg that will not slide, turn or rub. Do not use boots that will hold water they could cause sever damage with the extra weight. I normally use boots made for cross country you can find them just about anywhere. For the fronts I would use the standard boots that cover what your normal splint boots cover. For the hinds I always use half boots that cover the fetlocks and just above. I have learned from experience that the longer/larger boots in the rear can get in the way.
